Bug in Whatsapp gives unauthorized access to your files
Using a Content Security Policy (CSP) vulnerability, hackers can access sensitive information stored on your computer. Update as soon as possible.
Security company PerimeterX notices a serious bug in the desktop version of Whatsapp (CVE-2019-18426) that, in the worst case, allows unauthorized access to your local files.
This is a content security policy (CSP) vulnerability that can be used to send messages with links containing malicious code. If your phone is connected to a computer running Mac OS or Windows, the hacker can then access sensitive information stored on the computer.
Fortunately, the bug was fixed a few weeks ago, so the only thing you need to do to be on the safe side is to update to the latest version of Whatsapp on your devices.
If you want to know more about the bug, you can go to the security company’s technology blog, where there is an extensive article about the issue.
